At the beginning of the year we were told to make goals. These goals guided us to become better IT Help Desk students. For me personally, my goals were to create and host an Hour of Code, set up a help desk in or outside the library and create an E-News for the student body. Only one of my goals were accomplished and that was the Hour of Code. This goal was accomplished because we hosted our very own Hour of Code in the media center. During the event students were able to code and design their own games. For the goals that were not achieved I feel like if we had a year long class that would have given us more time to plan. My two favorite blogs post would have to be the “Student Help Desk Dreams” and the “My Digital Life”. These two are my favorite because it allowed us be creative by making infographics or digital posters. Also this allowed us to use other websites and link them within our blog posts. One blog post I think needs an improvement is the “Reflection 10/14”. This blog post can be improved by adding in more “life” to it. Turning the blog into an infographic would be more appealing and attract more readers with the use of creativity. My future vision for this class is to expand more student wise and become more involved within the school. One project I have in mind is the “Escape the Room” event. This will be enjoyable to the student body as well as teach the Help Desk students project management skills. No, I don’t think there should be any new technologies explored at this time. For future students who are enrolling in this course; always use your time wisely, listen to Ms. Bailey and mostly importantly have fun while you're doing it.

Companies use various methods to sell their products. One method is by tracking what people look up or spend their time doing. Websites may collect the things you like on social media, what you look up online, your age group and even gender. Websites use this information to determine what you look up and what ads pop up on your screen. Websites use things called online tracking and targeting to determine what you look up. Pros of tracking and targeting is that it makes looking up things easier, but a negative about this is that websites know what you like and what you do online which invades your privacy. Three ways to prevent websites/companies from collecting information about you are disabling your cookies, installing software that prevents third parties from collecting your data and by limiting your use of the online web.
The standard that I mastered for this week is the “Empowered Learner”. One of the “Empowered Learner” aspects is being able to build and customize networks that are beneficial to the learning process. I achieved this aspect by designing my web page to be user friendly and also adapt to people with different levels of technology knowledge. I made my web page to where it is easy to use by adding in page tabs for easy directory. Another aspect I achieved is being able to seek feedback from the people who visit my page. I accomplished this by setting up a contact form which allows users to contact me for any questions, recommendations and tips. Goals for a better I.T. Club Goals, goals and goals. The newly established I.T. club at Saluda High School is an interesting class. Not only does this class deal with technology, but it deals with a lot of stuff that I don’t know about to be honest. This class ranges from creating blogs to setting up student help desks for the student body. The Dream We all have goals and aspirations. In this case we start with a class, not just any class, but the I.T. class. The vision I have for this class is:
The benefits of these goals varies. The Hour of Code will let the student be more interested and involved with technology through gaming and tutorials, the E-News will provide the student body with useful information such as school happenings at Saluda High and upcoming local events and finally the student help desk will enable the student body to get the proper assistance they need for all their technological needs/wants. Even Goals Need a Place to Start While making these goals I stumbled across this website called “Venngage”. It allowed me access to a wide variety of templates such as infographics, reports, posters and social. One setback to the website is the fact that you can’t create your own templates to upload to the Venngage community. On a scale of 1-10, I’ll rate the Venngage a 9.5. Want More ? Be sure to check out the guys over at Venngage (https://venngage.com/) and be sure to join the awesome community ! |
